A pair of doves have built a nest on top of a cabinet on our back porch. We’ve enjoyed watching her sit so calmly, serenely and patient. I hope I’m here when the babies fly – if I haven’t already missed them. It’s been raining so much, I haven’t checked in the last couple of days.
What has that got to do with anything else in my life? I was thinking how we can learn from this sweet dove. The past couple of months’ junk expeditions have been like a desert. There have been sales, but they’ve had nothing of interest. Bor-ring. Trust me when I say, I’m due a good one. Patience. Stay calm. Don’t get upset. It’ll come when it’s time. This past weekend? T’weren’t it. There were lots of sales on Saturday, but this is the loot I pulled. (Erin got some good stuff, but I didn’t get pictures of hers.)
Disney wrapping paper from 1966, a vintage, blue/green clutch purse, a 1967 cat bank, an owl bowl, old, oaken bucket or firkin without a lid (that’s the dark shape you can’t really see), a lampshade with flower panels, 2 wooden bowls, neither with much age – one with a child’s drawing of an apple done at summer camp – a set of Lucite handle cake servers, small, blue Pyrex mixing bowl, three hankies, a bird dish and a bird jam jar. Oh, inside the bucket are some fancy prisms.
I mean, not bad, but way not good! This ain’t a payin’ the bills. I have no problem with lots of $5-20 items, but need some $50-200 items a little more often than I’m finding them lately. Sometimes I wonder if I should find another line of work or just go back to being a (ahem) lady of leisure. As if. LOL That’s my dream job, though. Lady of leisure/kept woman/princess…
