Recollections Reminiscences Jefferson Co., Alabama History

Recollections Reminiscences Jefferson Co., Alabama History

Recollections Reminiscences...and More Legacies From the Crossroads - A History of the development of northeast Jefferson County In Alabama Recollections Reminiscences and More Legacies From the Crossroads - A history of the development of Northeast Jefferson County in Alabama, Edited and Collected by Mildred Hearn. "If you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday." __Pearl Buck Wonderful, hardback book of 157 pages, a 1993 project of the Roebuck Springs Garden Club. If you have this book, I'm sure you know someone who would love a copy. It has histories and recollections, pictures and landmark maps. Eastwood Mall was built in 1960?! I, living in Sylacauga, wasn't even aware of it until my early teens in the late 60's, early 70's when I started taking organ lessons from Kitty Lawson. I never knew it was the first mall built in the state of Alabama, the third largest in the nation and only the fifth enclosed mall built up til that time. What a shame that landmark is now gone. But that is only one of the many landmarks talked about in this book and one of the later ones. Early places and people of Roebuck and East Lake fill the book cover to cover with some very fascinating pictures. We all love pictures of the past, don't we? The book is in excellent condition, it's clean, the spine is tight. It has a nice "book" smell, not musty.
